Is Michael Jackson really behind the Sonic 3 soundtrack ? Apparently one of the oldest mysteries of the videloudic market has finally been solved, thanks to Yuji Naka, the father of the blue hedgehog, who confirmed on Twitter that the artist actually composed the soundtrack of the title for Sega Mega Drive.
Commenting on the changes to the Sonic 3 soundtrack for the Sonic Origins collection, Naka said:
Does Sonic Origins Sonic 3 have a different song? Oh my god, the music for Sonic 3 has changed, even though SEGA Official uses Michael Jackson’s music.
Given that the tweet is unclear in English, one would think that Naka was simply wrong to translate from Japanese, except that a few minutes later he also shared an old photo taken when he visited Jackson’s house during the development of Sonic 3.
“This is a picture taken by me with my camera when we went to his(Jackson) house in his helicopter. It’s pretty faded. I miss it.“
According to the urban legends of the network, now confirmed, the soundtrack of Sonic 3 for Sega Mega Drive was composed, in whole or in part, by the famous Michael Jackson. The collaboration, according to another theory, was interrupted due to the allegations of child abuse and for this reason the Japanese company has never officially recognized the artist’s work.
It has been confirmed that Sonic Origins, the new Sonic game compilation available today for consoles and PC, does not use the original soundtrack. The suspicion of many is that this is due to alleged copyright problems. The new soundtrack was created by composer Jun Senoue.
