Microsoft’s in-house studios are working on many unannounced and exclusive games, but the editors of WindowsCentral decided to reveal the details of two new productions. One of the titles is to hit the market next year.
The editors of WindowsCentral introduce players to the next productions developed by Microsoft’s in-house studios. Jez Corden has already confirmed the excellent access to the employees of the American corporation and this time the journalist mentions two games.
Compulsion’s Project ‘Midnight’
Project “Midnight” – under this code name, the first game of Compulsion studio is created, which joined Microsoft in 2018, but the developers have not disclosed the position being developed for the new employer.
As it turns out, the developers are to work on a third-person action game set in a dark and fantastic world. In the presented concept art, you can see the heroine and the humanoid harpy – the characters were created by various mutations. The graphic also shows the beast’s nest, which was located at the top of the tree.
Midnight is to present a “coming-of-age story” which draws its inspiration from the American Deep South. The title is full of magic, great creatures and the journalist mentions the atmosphere of “southern gothic”. The title is focused only on single-player gameplay and is said to offer a strong story. Unfortunately, we don’t know when Midnight is due to hit the market.
Obsidian’s “Pentiment”
On the other hand, “Pentiment” is the secret adventure of Obsidian Entertainment, for which Josh Sawyer – the creator best known from Fallout New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity , is responsible. It was he who was supposed to create a smaller, 12-person team that deals with the mysterious story.
The name “Pentiment” has a great meaning here – according to the dictionary it is: “correction, correction or partial change of the composition of the picture made by the artist during the painting” , which refers to the assumptions of the game. In this case, the players are to play the role of a detective in 16th-century Europe, who will face the discovery of the truth behind a gruesome murder.
The game was previously mentioned by Jeff Grubb, who confirmed that Pentiment is inspired by Disco Elysium and the very extensive narrative for which Josh Sawyer is known. In this case, those interested are to investigate, and even be able to accuse the characters in the game, which can significantly affect the events. The game is to feature a lot of dialogue and a lot of difficult choices. The title may not get a fight.
Jez Corden has confirmed that the Pentiment may debut in 2022.
