The game would be being developed by Certain Affinity and would be codenamed “Suerte.”
Monster Hunter is a brand that is constantly enjoying great popularity and has been one of the pillars of Capcom’s success for several years. The latest, unconfirmed reports suggest that the Redmond giant may reach for the already used idea and prepare a similar production, which will most likely debut only on Xbox and PC.
The manufacturer of the Xbox may be targeting another extremely profitable IP – company representatives are fully aware that adding Monster Hunter to the Game Pass catalog is a very difficult undertaking that generates considerable costs. However, the item devoted to monster hunters is so well known that the Americans are probably planning to create a similar title. During Thursday’s Giant Bomb show, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb stated that Microsoft was looking for developers interested in developing the title.
“They’re working with Certain Affinity on what looks like a Monster Hunter style game – a Monster Hunter clone.”
Microsoft reportedly wanted “more variety in game genres” coming to Game Pass, so it decided to find a team interested in developing a new proposal. The gameplay model used in the production of Capcom allows for long-term support and has great potential, which could turn out to be extremely lucrative for the subscription.
Certain Affinity is a supporting studio that has worked since 2007 on such brands as: Call of Duty, Halo, Left 4 Dead and DOOM. The manager and CEO is Max Hoberman, who once served as head of the multiplayer and online department in the Halo series.
Last year, studio officials announced that they had signed a contract to develop the original IP, which may be related to the aforementioned “Monster Hunter clone”.
