The latest Microsoft financial report reveals that the company generated record revenues in the Xbox division of $ 16.28 billion in the last calendar year.

This is the best twelve months in the performance of the American giant’s video game segment. In 2020, it was less than 14 billion, and a year earlier – slightly more than 10 billion.
Analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners estimates – without official data – that 12 million Xbox Series X and S consoles have already been sold worldwide. For comparison, Sony boasted sales of 13.4 million PS5 in September.
However, consoles are not the main source of income. Last year, the equipment was only a 23% “appetizer” to the main course, which is the content and services segment, i.e. Game Pass and first-party titles .
In the hardware area, the Xbox division generated $ 3.7 billion, which was beyond the company’s expectations due to continued supply shortages. Reportedly, the increase in production of the Xbox Series S model helped.
Ahmad adds that if these results and the projected revenues of the purchased Activision Blizzard were added together, we would have received a total of $ 24.9 billion – much more than Microsoft generated in the gaming department.
