Team Ninja is working on a new IP that should intrigue soulslike fans. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the responsibility of the authors of the NiOh and Bloodborne series , so we should expect challenging clashes.
The position of Koei Tecmo was the pride of the Microsoft event . Shortly after the event, the publisher shared the first information about the game, and now thanks to the IGN editorial team we have received some important details – Team Ninja is developing another soulslike, which, as the developers emphasize, will bring a lot of satisfaction:
“The same can be said for the difficulty. There’s no doubt this will be an extremely challenging and demanding game, but we’ve come up with new ways to approach that difficulty. In that regard, players can look forward to a type of satisfaction that wasn’t present in earlier Team Ninja titles.”
The main character is a military recruit who plays an important role in the plot, players will be able to fully personalize their characters. The production will include a new morality system that will “lead to the creation of new strategies in the souls like genre” – interestingly, the mechanics can not only strengthen the protagonist, but also the enemies who defeat the player.
“We wanted to create a type of strategism with adversity as its theme. You gain something by defeating a strong enemy, but the same can be said for when an enemy kills the player. The balance between strength changes whenever someone dies.”
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be characterized by extensive exploration, including jumping – the introduction of this activity significantly affects the games, it will be no different in the title Team Ninja.
“We do have more freedom in our stage design though. Since the player character can now jump, there’s a lot more room for verticality and exploration in general. That being said, at its core, Wo Long is a linear structured game just as Nioh was. With Soulslike games becoming more and more popular, this kind of design gives Team NINJA an opportunity to display what we do best.”
As IGN editors point out, the levels in production are higher than in previous projects by the Japanese studio and have been described as “almost wide-linear approach.”
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will offer a “much faster fight” than NiOh – due to the dynamic clashes, we should expect experience between NiOh and Ninja Gaiden. There will be fewer weapons in position, and not all enemies will drop items. Despite the extensive arsenal at their disposal, the developers want players to focus on the action.
Team Ninja has also confirmed the multiplayer mode in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
