This is confirmed by a mysterious video published by the studio’s Youtube channel.
Apparently the rumors about a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 made by Virtuos Studio could prove to be well founded. The studio has published a mysterious teaser, now removed from YouTube but available online, which hides a message that seems to suggest an official announcement during The Game Awards 2022 .
The clip in question was reposted on Twitter by the Zonex fan. As we can see it shows a forest, very similar to that of the Tselinoyarsk of Metal Gear Solid 3. Subsequently the screen goes black and a message in morse code is played.
Decoding the message the result is ” 1964 December 8 2022 ” and here comes the best part. 1964 is the year Metal Gear Solid 3’s Operation Snake Eater takes place, while December 8 is the day The Game Awards 2022 will take place. Clearly the most sensible theory is that during the event conducted by Geoff Keighley will be announced Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake.
For the moment, take it all with a grain of salt, as nothing is official yet. That said, it is not the first time that the name of Virtuos, an almost unknown Singapore studio that has worked on some ports of XCOM 2 and BioShock, is associated with a possible remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
In October last year, a VGC report stated that the studio was working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 on commission from Konami , which also plans to release remastered versions of the original Metal Gear Solids before its release. Subsequently, the information was also corroborated by Eurogamer.net and by the well-known Gematsu portal, which usually never unbalances itself on similar rumors and indiscretions, but when it does, it is usually because it is true information.
We also add that Konami is one of the partners with whom Virtuos collaborates or has collaborated in the past, as confirmed by the official website of the studio.
On the other hand, Konami with the remake of Silent Hill 2 and the other projects related to the franchise has clearly expressed its intention to collaborate and entrust its IPs to external studios. Perhaps in addition to the rebirth of Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid is also planned, starting from one of the most popular chapters by fans. We’ll see.
