Turtle Rock Studios is no longer an independent band. Developers have not fallen into the trap of any American, Japanese or European corporation. Tencent has joined developers Back 4 Blood and Left 4 Dead to his family.
Turtle Rock Studios has worked with Warner Bros. for years, and previously developed games for Valve, but neither corporation decided to take over the seasoned developers. Tencent, who has been willing to invest in studies from the West for some time, decided on such a move.
The corporation stresses that ” Turtle Rock will become part of Tencent while maintaining its independent operations” and the current roster will continue to be run by co-founders Phil Robb and Chris Ashton. The situation will not affect Back 4 Blood, which was released by Warner Bros.
“We are all looking forward to joining the Tencent family of studios,” said Steve Goldstein, president and general manager of Turtle Rock Studios. “Tencent’s outstanding partners, global reach, deep knowledge of gaming and unprecedented support will help us create the kinds of ambitious games we dream of, while allowing us to retain our autonomy and independent spirit.”
“We are huge fans of Turtle Rock’s games, especially their amazing approach to creating co-operative online games,” said Eddie Chan, chief strategy officer of Tencent Games Global. “We can’t wait to see what comes next, and we’re excited to be part of their future.”
We can suspect that Turtle Rock Studios has already started preliminary work on a new project, because although Back 4 Blood will be developed throughout 2022, probably only part of the team has to deal with the development of new content.
