Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is considered a “big win” for Gearbox, which at this point is thinking of a new series linked to the Borderlands spin-off.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands appears to have been a hit , considering Gearbox considers it “great victory” for the team, which could also spawn new games within the series , according to reports.
During the Embracer Group annual general meeting, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford pointed out how Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has given the team great satisfaction and therefore presumably has also had a good success in the market.
“Wonderlands shattered all of our target expectations, both critically and commercially,” said Pitchford.
So we are talking about both reception by the specialized press and the public, which evidently rewarded the courageous and interesting reinterpretation of Borderlands with excellent sales on the market. “and I’m thrilled to report that in addition to great financial rewards from this victory that will be coming our way in the coming quarters, we have established a firm beachhead”.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands could therefore be the beginning of a new series, derived from Borderlands but destined to move forward on its own: “we now clearly have a new franchise on our hands”, reported Pitchford, who also mentioned “future experiences [are] already under development at Gearbox”.
It remains to be seen if these “experiences” are DLC, expansions or real new chapters, but in any case it is clear how there is great enthusiasm around the game in question.
