The new chapter of The Witcher is officially in pre-production and CD Projekt RED reports great progress made with Unreal Engine 5.
CD Projekt RED has provided some updates on the work in progress at the team, also talking about the new game of The Witcher , which is the one that should start “a new saga” for video games focused on the series, which apparently is entered pre-production and is making great progress with Unreal Engine 5 .
The new game, which has been announced as in development but has not yet been identified as The Witcher 4 , despite being in fact the fourth installment of the major series, has officially entered the pre-production phase, so the works are entering the alive even if it is not yet actual development on an established project.
CD Projekt RED executive Piotr Nielubowicz said in a recent video dedicated to shareholders and investors that “We are very excited to be able to revisit the universe that has built our history up to this point,” adding that “We have recently completed the research phase on the first game in the new saga of The Witcher, which means that from now on all the expenses related to the processing will be included in the budget document “.
In practice, the more generic research phase on the use of new technologies has ended, and in particular Unreal Engine 5, which is the new engine used by the team for The Witcher after the abandonment of the proprietary engine of CD Projekt RED . At this point, the team is entering a more advanced stage and is already seeing a noticeable increase in “efficiency” using Unreal Engine 5, which could lead to a squeeze of development time in the face of more advanced technical results.
