The Witcher Remake would only be released after The Witcher 4 because it will take advantage of the technologies and tools developed for that game.
As is well known, the first role-playing game with the witcher Geralt of Rivia is being given a contemporary remake. The Witcher Remake will be mainly developed by Fool’s Theory (the studio behind Seven: The Days Long Gone, founded by former CDPR employees) to develop it using Unreal Engine 5 and even make it an open-world game.
The Witcher Remake is in an early stage of development. But what exactly that means is difficult to assess with such statements.
However, CD Projekt’s third quarter financial report sheds some light on the matter.
For example, CEO Adam Kiciński said The Witcher Remake will only appear after the release of The Witcher 4, which is in development under the working title Polaris. The reason is the technology used by The Witcher 4, on which the remake should partially build.
“Coming back to The Witcher Remake and when it will come, yes, it will come after Polaris (The Witcher 4), which is a consequence of how we think about this project. I think that The Witcher Remake will be based in big part on technologies from Polaris, so it will be developed partially in parallel to Polaris, but once Polaris is launched, everything for Polaris will be then in the final shape, and it will be partially reused in the remake.”

All that is known about the schedule for The Witcher 4 is that the associated trilogy will be implemented within six years.
