Steam Deck is not the most powerful platform available on the market, but the open structure of the device allows you to perform various interesting experiments. The latest footage shows how the player has significantly improved the performance of Valve’s hardware by using an external GPU.
The Witcher 3 and GTA 5 work on Steam Deck, but gamers may not even dream of playing in 4K at 60 frames per second, but the creator from the ETA Prime channel decided to see how a portable PC can handle the extra power.
Youtuber opened the Steam Deck, pulled out the SSD drive, and then plugged the Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card into the slot. Here, of course, an additional power supply was also necessary, and although the device lost its portable nature during such an experiment, it turns out that you can actually increase the power of the device in such an unusual way.
In the film, you will see not only the connection of the GPU to Steam Deck, but also benchamrk or the gameplay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Grand Theft Auto 5. Both games look and work very well, which should please many players.
Of course, this is only an experiment, which, however, confirms that Steam Deck can be expanded in an interesting way and that various modifications of the device will probably appear in the future.
