Although the last few hours have been anything but positive for the latest project by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, given the latest information arriving on the net following the rumors about the end of support for Marvel’s Avengers, the project published by Square Enix now drippings would bring with it new internal changes.
In fact, the aforementioned rumors have been followed by some rumors that would see part of the Marvel’s Avengers team grappling with the next chapter in the Tomb Raider saga, the project created in collaboration with Amazon Games still called Tomb Raider Next. The news would be linked to the recent events involving the Lead Developer Brian Wagoner, following which it has come to an anticipation of the abandonment of the support of Marvel’s Avengers.
Following these internal changes, the company has withdrawn part of its staff to work on Tomb Raider Next, while another slice of the development team would be grappling with other internal projects. However, it would seem that 2023 has many new features in store for the continuation of the Lara Croft saga: in fact, according to the latest rumors, the new Tomb Raider will be the subject of a reveal during the year.
Therefore, according to the latest unofficial information, it would seem that the cessation of development of new content for Marvel’s Avengers – which will be followed by a total abandonment of the title during 2023 – will be followed by full-time development of Tomb Raider and Perfect Dark. However, at least for the moment, it is not known if there are further titles in the pipeline.
The fallback of a large part of the development team towards the creation of the next Tomb Raider should facilitate development times: this is certainly very positive news for the fans, who could get their hands on the future title within a few years. Meanwhile, while users await Tomb Raider Next with trepidation, the series has nearly sold 100 million copies in the month of December 2022.
