DICE is trying to fix and expand the last installment of the shooter, but part of the studio has already started working on a new part of the series. A number of problems and a wave of criticism faced by Battlefield 2042 were to be a lesson for the creators. This does not mean that all new features implemented in the game will be removed.
Over the next several months, the Swedish studio plans to significantly expand and improve Battlefield 2042. The rebuilt maps will be added to the position, but we should also expect new operators and more modes. Despite the grandiose assumptions, the team does not stay in place and prepares the next part of the shooter.
Tom Henderson reports on the plans of Electronic Arts – although Battlefield 2042 did not achieve the expected results, “there is a new Battlefield title in active development, and EA is providing the resources needed to bring back the franchise. ” The players can be calm, however, because an impressive team of specialists watches over the development of the production debuting last year.
The new title, of course, is in the pre-production phase, but now internal sources report that DICE does not intend to abandon the “valuable lessons” that have been introduced to IP due to the last installment.
One of the developers, who recently left the Swedish studio, suggested that the position being created would be “almost a hero shooter”, and that specialists would be turned into mercenaries. The cited solution, however, remains in doubt, because the latest internal tests of Battlefield 2042 focused on the traditional class system, and it is this game that will be the basis for creating future productions in IP. We can suspect that DICE will be testing ideas through updates to last year’s production, and the best systems will go to the new shooter.
Tom Henderson announces an important detail: “the next title is currently slated to have a modern/near-future setting.“
The guide also mentions Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – we know that Battlefield 2042 focuses on the US-Russia conflict, so there is no question of kicking the factions out of the game. EA has already confirmed the removal of the country’s national team in Fifa 22 and NHL 22. Henderson says the war could affect the content that will be included in the shooter in the future.
