Based on a Korean novel.
The creators of PUBG – Krafton studio – are dealing with a new fantasy title, based on a series of Korean novels “The Bird That Drinks Tears” from 2003.
Developers assure that we are talking about an “ambitious project”, the aim of which is to “breathe life into a unique universe, full of races, beautiful landscapes and captivating stories”. So, unlike the classic elves and dragons, we have folklore from Asia: dokkaebi spirits, ssireum wrestling and the arajit language.
Besides, we don’t know many details. The project was mentioned a year ago, but the website has now been refreshed , apparently to help “recruit the best talent from around the world to achieve this ambitious vision.” Concept art is created by Iain McCraig himself , who has to his credit Terminator 2, The Avengers, Star Wars and many other famous licenses.
The series by Lee Yeongdo, on which the production is based, consists of four books. They became famous for replacing European fantasy with Korean elements. Hence, for example, the four races: human, naked, dokkaebi, and lekon, and among the monsters are dragons (but in the form of plants), flying fish, and beetles instead of horses.
