The award-winning ZA / UM studio responsible for Disco Elysium – one of the top-rated RPGs in recent years – has posted some intriguing job advertisements. They suggest taking a whole new direction for their unannounced production.

Employees for several positions are sought. The need, inter alia, artists who love science fiction and space and are able to create extraterrestrial environments. People who “understand that there are things in heaven and earth that philosophers have not dreamed of” are welcome (this is a quote from an advertisement for a concept artist).
The most intriguing thing, however, is that the studio is looking for a sales and monetization specialist . Among the duties mentioned, among others developing a monetization strategy for the entire game life cycle, and maximizing and diversifying sources of income. Apparently, the recognition of players and critics did not translate into high financial results.
Between the lines we can read that the valued creators have decided to change the direction completely and are now preparing a sci-fi production using NFT or some other micropayment system. This does not mean that a game-service should be expected, although there is also such a possibility . Guesses will be verified only by the official announcement.
As Reddit users noted , the studio’s representatives repeatedly emphasized their attachment to the world of Disco Elysium and suggested that they would return to it more than once in other projects. We can guess that the resulting title will be set in the distant future, but in the same universe. It is possible, however, that the talk was rather about the emerging series Disco Elysium, and the studio is working on a completely new brand.
