We still don’t have much news about State of Decay 3, the new installment of Undead Labs is still a great unknown to fans. The only thing we know to date is that animals will now play an important role in the game, since according to the trailer, they can also be infected as zombies.
Another of the details confirmed for this installment of the game is that it will use Unreal Engine 5 , the new graphics engine from Epic Games seems to be the ideal solution to its proprietary engine.
State of Decay 3 will look spectacular
However, from here, it is logical that doubts arise regarding the final quality of the game. Neither of the previous two installments have been particularly noteworthy for graphics, and there was always the issue of optimization with every release. So it’s normal that the jump to a new graphics engine is a bit scary.
To clear up some of those doubts, Matt Booty, current Head of Xbox Game Studios, responded in a recent interview. The manager has left us powerful statements such as confidence in Playground for Fable or recognizing that they fell short with Halo Infinite. Now Booty makes it clear that the Undead Labs team is struggling to be visually competitive.
“We want that game [State of Decay 3] to compete, we want it to compete visually. One of the things that the team there is really focused on is animation, animation technology, being able to really up — for State of Decay 3 — the interactivity between the player and the environment.”
Booty himself has admitted that Undead Labs is a much smaller team than others in Microsoft’s organization chart, but its quality should be beyond question.
