According to a credible leaker, Starfield would have major problems with development and that is why it has been postponed.
Starfield is having big problems with development : a leaker trusted by Timur, an expert in researching curriculums and information, reports that the game has gone through a veritable “development hell”.
This is probably the reason why Starfield was postponed : the “deep throat” described a really complicated situation that mainly concerned the technical aspects of the experience, not living up to the ambitions of the project.
“The flying was bad in playtests. “Creation Engine 2” is just a marketing slogan. It’s just Creation Engine. They refactored the graphics modules of the engine and added a couple new features, but it’s not a complete rebuild or overhaul., “said the leaker.
“That will be obvious as soon as the game launches. Modders will tear them to shreds. Todd internally said, ” We make games, not tools.” The toolset is rusty, the content devs are sick of it. Building games on crap tools makes crap games.”
Since Bethesda Game Studios Austin released Fallout 76 they have not been working on a new game. They had most teams on 76 support and DL content.
Untill the acquisition BGS was releasing on all major platforms. XBOX/ MS wanted exclusives to compete. So all the game were slated for XB and PS. But cutting a platform removed a few headaches. (this was with regards to whether a Playstation version was in development).
Last month a former Bethesda developer said Starfield is a good game, but the development engine is “crap”.
