The Star Wars shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment will use the Unreal Engine 5, as revealed by the development team itself.
Star War s first person shooter in development at Respawn Entertainment will use Unreal Engine 5 . This was revealed by Melissa Janowicz, the team’s Lead Combat AI Designer, in response to a Twitter user asking what engine the team will be using.
Janowicz posted a tweet announcing the search for new developers for the project. The desired figures are those of the Narrative System Designer and the Senior Mission Designer. In response to the message, a user asked about the engine being used. At that point Janowicz brought up Unreal Engine 5.
In truth, the choice is not surprising, given that Respawn has always had an excellent relationship with the Epic Games engine , so much so as to prefer it to Frostbite, owner of Electronic Arts, of which he is a first party developer. The adoption of Unreal Engine 5 for the team appears as an almost natural step, which will thus avoid slowdowns due to having to study a completely different technology and with fewer developers on the market.
For the rest , nothing is really known about the Star Wars first person shooter that Respawn is working on.
