Cloud Imperium Games hosted the CitizenCon 2952 event for the space simulator Star Citizen , which began with a talk from the founder and creative director of the studio, Chris Roberts.
It turned out that out of more than 4.1 million registered accounts in Star Citizen, 1.7 million belong to users who have already bought the project . Despite the fact that the release of the game is still far away, the developers provide each contributor with access to a constantly evolving alpha version, which is periodically made temporarily free for everyone. Probably, the rest of the accounts just belong to such players.
Roberts also noted that more people are playing the Star Citizen alpha this year than ever before . The average daily number of unique players reached 50,000 , and at the peak this figure rose to 130 thousand several times.
The average game time for 2022 was 3 hours per day per person, while in total, since January, all users have spent 36 million hours in Star Citizen . According to Roberts, this shows that the team has done a great job and even at the alpha stage made Star Citizen more functional and stable.
