After having softened ourselves with Stray ‘s irresistible kitten , here is that the boys of GSC Game World decide to offer us a “nice” and not at all disturbing feline that we will be able to meet while exploring the Wasteland of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl .
What you can see at the bottom of the news is Bayun , a quadrupedal mutant with sharp claws and teeth, covered with rotting skin and rotting bulbs that have grown in the throat area. The Bayun was ironically shown on the occasion of International Cat Day 2022.
“A very stealthy and nimble mutant. For years, the stories about it have been considered mere fairy tales ,” reads the creature’s official description. “Bayun gets its name from its throat sacs, which allow the beast to imitate all kinds of sounds , including human speech . “
The “fairy tales” referred to in the text above are genuine fragments of Russian folklore, in which a fearsome creature known as Bayun the cat is known to perch on raised surfaces and talk to approaching humans. In some stories the Bayun is benevolent and uses his magical voice to tell stories or cure diseases; in others , he is much more sinister , making people fall asleep with a mesmerizing song before robbing or eating them.
The STALKER 2 version doesn’t look very friendly , and will likely use its voice imitation ability to trick players into an ambush (for example, pretending to be an injured stalker asking for help).
Expected for 2023 on Windows PC and Xbox Series X | S consoles, the title remains without a precise launch date.
