Splinter Cell Remake is in production and as indicated by Ubisoft the storyline will be “rewritten and updated” to fit the modern audience.
A job posting for a screenwriter for the upcoming Splinter Cell remake has revealed that Ubisoft is adapting the game to modern audiences by rewriting the original project’s plot.
The ad says :
Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern-day audience. We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable. As a Scriptwriter at Ubisoft Toronto, you will join the Narrative team and help create a cohesive and compelling narrative experience for a new audience of Splinter Cell fans.
As you can read, the idea is to work on Splinter Cell Remake in such a way as to keep the fundamental components at a narrative level, but modifying enough to update the final experience and adapt it to a more modern audience: unfortunately this does not allow us to understand how much of the game needs to be changed to achieve this.
A remake of Splinter Cell was officially announced in December at an early stage of development. The project is being created by Ubisoft Toronto on the Snowdrop Engine with updated visuals and stealth gameplay, while Ubisoft promises to keep the spirit of the original game intact and not add an open world .
There is no release date at the moment.
