Sony will hold an online showcase ‘State of Play’ on October 28th. It is not known at all what content will be announced, but some have speculated that details such as the release date of ‘Final Fantasy 16’, the latest numbering of the ‘Final Fantasy series, will be announced.
The rumours have been convincing when Sony opened up a Final Fantasy 16-related page in the game listings section of its PlayStation site last week. There is nothing written on the page other than the game title, Square Enix (developer), and the release date, but the fact that the introduction page was opened at this time leads to speculation that an official announcement will be made soon.
Sony said State of Play will cover announcements and updates to third-party games coming to PS4 and PS5. In addition, Square Enix said that it would focus on development after the announcement of Final Fantasy 16 last year, and said that it would not disclose related information until the end of 2021. The timing is also worthy of the Final Fantasy 16 announcement.
Final Fantasy 16 is a title that was first revealed at the PS5 Gaming Show in September 2020. Naoki Yoshida is the producer, and like Final Fantasy 15 and 7 remakes, the action RPG genre is chosen. At the time of the announcement, various contents such as the world view and summoned animals were revealed, but the release date and the like were undecided.
Sony’s new State of Play online showcase will be broadcast live on Sony’s official YouTube channel and Twitch on the 28th.
