When the developers are silent, fans are speculating.
A lot is happening in the world of Diablo, but the warmly received Diablo 2 Resurrected has recently seemed to be pushed to the background. The creators, however, have not forgotten about the classic experiencing a second youth and announce a “big update”, which should hit the test servers next week.
The first bracket (season) in Diablo 2 Resurrected then also ends. Accordingly, fans asked the community manager on the Blizzard forum about the future of the game:
I know it has been a bit quiet on the D2R front especially this week as all other Diablo titles have had some sort of news.
But fear not, we are hoping to share some news about PTR next week. A bit late I know and a bit outside of our windows we were aiming for with ladder seasons but the team is working on a feature that they would like to test in PTR that is pretty big and they want to make sure we can get accurate feedback on it before it goes live in the PTR.
Hoping we can share more next week and if not, it surely will be the week after.

PezRadar also wrote that it is a “big feature”. The most common voices on the forum are about changes to the cache system (such as tabs dedicated to runes, gems or gold), migration of characters from online to offline mode, loot filter or about tweaks to TCP / IP network protocol settings, and even about introducing to the game the auction house.
Some users, however, think it’s something much bigger – the auction house, the introduction of cross-play or brand new content for this 22-year-old game. We will know the answer in the coming days.
