Ryan Barnard, director in charge of Ubisoft’s pirate game, explains that progression will be the key to the game. It will be available from November 8 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Ubisoft’s pirate and ship game, which was first announced in 2017 and for which we had lost all hope, has been resurrected this year with great force announcing its release date, showing gameplay and revealing more features of this journey focused only on new generation of consoles , i.e. PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC (Stadia, Luna, Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect). Although we are in a constant siege of information regarding this title, its director, Ryan Barnard, has made a new talk for True Achievements in which he details that Skull and Bones it will not focus too much on the narrative, thus having its story as a second course.
“Skull and Bones is not a narrative game . We have narrative pieces: In the game, you will meet important NPCs called Kingpins who have their own stories that you will learn as you develop a relationship with them by accepting contracts. There is an underlying story to the game with which we build all the knowledge in the world, but that is not the main focus. We want players to create their own stories and be able to choose the type of pirate they want to be , “explains the person in charge, making it clear that the game will indeed focus more on exploring gameplay and player possibilities within fiction.
Players will be free to explore, level up and progress
Next, Barnard explains that what will really motivate the player to continue putting in the hours is progression ; find better items, more weapons, discover new areas, etc. “What propels you through the progression system that we call Infamy, is the fact that you’ll gain access to blueprints in the game that will give you different types of ships, weapons, and armor.” Leveling up and getting better items will be the key to advancing little by little in the game. Wow, standard operation. Ubisoft’s idea is to support the game for years after its release, so there will be material to explore for a while. Skull and Bones will be released on November 8 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
