Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming Shadows of Rose DLC for Resident Evil Village is the longest Resident Evil DLC to date, running at around four hours.
Capcom’s critically acclaimed survival horror game Resident Evil Village is about to receive a brand new story DLC titled Shadows of Rose with new locations, monsters and gameplay features. As the title suggests, Shadows of Rose takes place 16 years after Resident Evil Village and follows Rose Winters, Ethan and Mia’s daughter, as she returns to Dimitrescu’s village and castle.
Capcom has confirmed that Shadows of Rose is the longest (and probably the biggest) story DLC in the history of the Resident Evil series. It is expected to last around four hours, but depending on your playthrough, it could take even longer.
Obviously, surviving the DLC will be much more difficult than most Resident Evil games, as Rose plays more defensively than any other main character in the Resident Evil series. No wonder, considering she’s only a teenager.
Director Kento Kinoshita wanted to emphasize the gothic horror and dark fantasy theme of the original in the DLC. The team describes Shadows of Rose as a “psychological horror” paired with a “grim fairy tale” mixed with a “nightmare fever dream”.
The Resident Evil Village Shadows of Rose expansion is part of the Winters expansion pack, which will be released on October 28, 2022, and also includes the Mercenaries mode and a third-person mode.
