The last part of Resident Evil turned out to be a great success, but even in this situation, the developers had to remove a few fragments of the adventure in order to be able to develop the game on time. One of the interesting fragments of Resident Evil Village were supposedly mermaid monsters that the main character was supposed to meet in the swamps.
Resident Evil Village received ratings of 84% and the production was appreciated by many players. Capcom often boasts of great results for the title , which recorded a very good start, and is now screwing its result. The Japanese officially announced work on the first feature expansion, but it is difficult to say when the expansion will be presented.
Dusk Golem – an insider associated with the series, spoke about the unused idea from Resident Evil Village. In his opinion, Capcom developed a very interesting part of the game, in which players had to traverse swamps and could choose a path through water or on land. The problem turned out to be the “stalker” – he was on the surface, so the player had to run away from him all the time, but the siren-monsters stunned the player.
“I’ve been thinking about it, so I’ll tell you. The Moreau area in RE8 has been trimmed down considerably, I don’t think I have fully explained what I knew about Moreau’s swamps before trimming them, so I’ll do it now.
The Moreau episode was cut down considerably as it required a lot of rework to become fully functional, but they had limited time and budget, so they decided to focus on reworking Dimitrescu Castle and Heisenberg’s Factory.
Moreau’s section initially had something of an open swamp that was laid out similarly to End of Zoe’s, [the player] would spend some time in and out of the water, and while the gameplay was ultimately linear, there were several paths, often choosing to wade in the water or move around on land “.
Developers were working on a really large fragment of the game, which, however, was not finally thrown into the final version of Resident Evil Village.
“There were various items scattered in the water that could be taken, but the water was home to mermaid-like enemies. In the water, they could swim to you quickly if they noticed you, and you had to get to the scraps of land or successfully kill them. Even on land, they could be irritating and attack with a screech that deafened the hero, slowing him down for some time. The squeaking, however, had a secondary purpose – there was an enemy stalker in the swamps.
Insider does not know exactly who the mysterious figure was, but suspects it was Moreau – the enemy has been described as “a slimy creature similar to a Tyrant.”
A sequence with rituals was also supposed to appear in the swamps, because the creators planned to throw a few Lycans and Witches into this place – next to the latter’s camps, we could find items, but in this situation the protagonist would have to fight with women. This sequence was to resemble the action with the daughters Dimitriscu.
