It seems that a real treat awaits fans of RPGs in the style of the excellent Disco Elysium. There is information that the well-known Obsidian studio (authors of Fallout: New Vegas) are working on a role-playing in this style.
During the latest XboxEra podcast, Jeff Grubb and Shpeshal Nick, well-known gaming industry informers who have shared hot news many times with the world, shed some light on Obsidian’s latest project. The creators of Fallout: New Vegas are currently working on an RPG in the Disco Elysium style, in which dialogue will dominate and the fight – if it appears at all – will be of minimal importance. The game, which will be released by Microsoft (Xbox Game Studios), is currently to function under the working name Project Missouri. The final title has not been determined yet.
The said production is to be primarily the work and project of Josh Sawyer , the lead designer of Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity. Perhaps the most interesting – this mysterious work has a good chance to appear on the market in 2022. We are waiting for further information.
Let’s stay on the topic of Xbox Game Studios projects. According to information from Jeff Grubb, Everwild from Rare encountered very big production problems. According to the informant, work on this ambitious title started “practically from scratch” because the developers made too many mistakes.
“Everwild is in a mess. (…) The project has been practically reset, it’s a big mess. And that’s not just my guess; the people working on Everwild themselves do not fully understand what is going on with this project,” Grubb said. .
According to earlier rumors, Everwild was not to be released until around 2024. It seems, however, that these were too optimistic assumptions and that we will wait even longer for Rare’s production .
We wrote about the problems with creating Everwild in June 2021. In October, Matt Booty from Microsoft confirmed that Rare studio is struggling with staffing problems , which, however, do not invalidate the entire project.
