PlatinumGames has changed its mind and the Japanese are ready to join another corporation. The president of the studio changed his mind and during the last interview praised the actions of Microsoft, which is to provide Activision Blizzard with the expected independence.
Microsoft will now deal with the finalization of the Activision Blizzard acquisition , and Sony is finalizing the details of the contract with Bungie , but it turns out that a very interesting studio has appeared on the market, ready to join a larger corporation.
Atsushi Inaba, CEO and head of the studio, told VGC that the creators of the NieR and Bayonetta series are willing to engage in takeover talks – but the company wants to have “freedom” guaranteed.
“The most important thing for us is to have the freedom to make the games that we want to make,” he said. “What I hear about the recent acquisitions, I don’t think Microsoft is going to start micromanaging Activision to where they take away all their freedom… I don’t think it’s going to be a relationship like that. “
“I think there’s going to be a lot of mutual respect there and I think Activision will be able to continue doing what they do best. That’s also what’s most important to us at the end of the day, whatever form that takes for us and our company. So I would not turn anything down, as long as our freedom was still respected. “
The situation is interesting because the Japanese commented very directly on Microsoft’s movements, and earlier PlatinumGames was not interested in joining another corporation. But apparently a lot has changed in the last few months.
VGC recalls that PlatinumGames received financial support from Tencent in 2020 – identical to Activision Blizzard prior to its acquisition by Microsoft.
