During an interview with Famitsu , the developers of Persona 5 have anticipated that they have big plans in store for 2022. To reveal it is the product manager of the development team, Shinjiro Takada, who obviously could not disclose further details in this regard given the possible presence of non-disclosure agreements with publishers and marketing partners.
Famitsu interviewed over 100 developers, who talked about their next projects in 2022. Among these are the developers of Persona 5 , with Takada speaking openly about next year. “For 2022 I would choose ‘challenge’ as the keyword, with the hope of being able to publish a game that will become a pillar of our software house”, the words of Takada, who then added that in Atlus everyone is committed to working on the game that it will become so interesting and satisfying.
While not being able to unbalance in this regard, we can try to make several hypotheses on the new Atlus game . The first is the sequel to Catherine, one of their most controversial titles, which thanks to a re-release on Steam and PS4 and Xbox One consoles has once again gained the attention of the public, of the players and of course the press. The second (much more likely) instead concerns a new IP, which was unveiled in 2017 under the code name of Project RE Fantasy. His arrival was actually expected this year, but Atlus’s challenge to work on a new game while developing the immense Persona 5 could (along with the COVID-19 pandemic) have pushed it all the way to next year.
In addition to the new project, Atlus has already begun work on the Persona 5 sequel. Over the past few months, the Japanese developer has begun to hire more and more staff to focus on the franchise. Another project that could see the light over the next few years is the remaster of Persona 3 Portable , of which, however, at the moment there are only rumors and no official confirmations.
