Square Enix has revealed that the sequel to Octopath Traveler will occupy 5.2 GB (5358 MB) on Nintendo Switch, while the first game requires 3.1 GB.
Square Enix has updated the listing for Octopath Traveler II on the Nintendo Switch digital store , the Nintendo eShop. The Japanese company has thus announced that the JRPG developed by ACQUIRE Corp. will occupy 5.2 GB (or 5358 MB) on the hybrid console. The first Octopath Traveler requires 3.1 GB on this device.
Announced in the September 2022 Nintendo Direct, Octopath Traveler II will launch on February 24, 2023 for Switch, PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 for €60. It is unknown how much it will occupy on the other systems, nor do we know what the minimum and recommended requirements will be on computers.
The first Octopath Traveler was released exclusively for Switch in July 2018, a year before its PC adaptation via Steam. In 2021 the title was adapted to Xbox One and included in Game Pass for console and computer. The title has never been published for PlayStation systems, where the sequel does come out, which is not announced for Microsoft machines.
A sequel that promises “infinite paths” in the story
Octopath Traveler II repeats the premise of its predecessor: a JRPG where players alternate between eight protagonists (each with their past, their purposes and their abilities) whose histories converge. The title once again bets on HD-2D graphics that combine pixel art with three-dimensional settings and modern effects. In the playable, the freedom to assign jobs and abilities remains, and the Rupture and Impulse system for combat.
On this occasion, the players will travel to Solistia, a cultural melting pot divided in two by an ocean strip, in full industrial prosperity, and where there will be a cycle of day and night, with playable consequences to be expected. Square Enix promises “infinite paths” in the development of a story in which “new and varied mechanics have been added that will enrich this installment”.
