During Tokyo Game Show 2022, Final Fantasy 16 director Naoki Yoshida announced that the game’s next trailer would be released in October 2022. He also noted that the development is at the final stage, and work on the visual effects has been completed. Additionally, Yoshida is looking forward to sharing more specific details about the game’s release date in that timeframe. He also mentions that, based on feedback from beta testers, FF16 is truly a rollercoaster of action and story that, once you get on it, unfolds to its fullest and does not stop from start to finish.
Final Fantasy 16 will be more action-packed than its predecessors, and even the designer of Devil May Cry V took over its creation. Throughout the game, players will control the main character Clive, who will confront various Dominants – people cursed with the power to turn into Eikons.
Producer Naoki Yoshida describes the game as similar to his experience with the first Final Fantasy: “starring in an epic motion picture”. The reason for the game being action-oriented and having a more classic fantasy setting was the desire to “attract as wide a range of gamers as possible”. Moreover, for players who are not too confident in action games, there will be a “comprehensive support system”.
Final Fantasy XVI will be released for PlayStation 5 in summer 2023.
