Josh Sawyer says he’d like to work on a New Vegas sequel if he had a team that was enthusiastic about the idea, but Obsidian is currently working on other projects.
Josh Sawyer has just finished work on the successful Pentiment, but apparently he’s not going on vacation. As he admitted in one of the interviews, he would be interested in creating a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas.
It was he who directed the original game from 2010, considered by many fans to be the best installment of the series – at least after moving to three dimensions. It is worth noting that the developer speaks hypothetically, and Fallout: New Vegas 2 has not been announced and does not have to be made.
“I love Fallout, I love the setting, I could see myself working on it again but you know, we’ll see where the future takes me,” Sawyer told the Kinda Funny Games podcast. What’s more, the creator already has a few ideas.
“ California or the Midwest would be very interesting. Obviously, I have to be passionate about it as a Director but also that the team is really excited about and also that works within the larger idea of the IP.”
A possible sequel to Fallout: New Vegas from Obsidian would certainly be a project for the future, as the company currently has its hands full creating two ambitious RPGs: The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed.
As mentioned, Sawyer himself had just finished Pentiment, which he was developing with a small team, with Game Pass in mind. We did it – an unusual, detective adventure is so far one of the best-rated games of this year.
