The creator of the Naughty Dog saga has also been one of those responsible for the adaptation of the title to HBO.
The Last of Us series , which has just released the last episode of the first season, has adapted the video game. In the future, however, it may be that the HBO production is the one that nourishes the Naughty Dog titles. This has been stated by Neil Druckmann, its top manager, during a virtual event to which EL ESPAÑOL has had access.
The creator of the saga considers that filming the series has been an “enriching” experience . “If we ever revisit them in game form, which remains to be seen, there are definitely elements that I’m going to take from the series that would apply to the games ,” he said, when asked by the aforementioned outlet.
Druckmann referred to the work that he himself began to develop in 2004 and has gone through different stages. “I think there are two types of writers. Those who tell a very different story each time and, conversely, those who tell the same thing over and over again looking to improve it, change it and explore the same themes ,” he explained. He confesses to being one of the latter, “those who keep exploring.”
Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us, first cousins
In his opinion, even during his work writing and directing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End , he addressed “very similar” themes to those that The Last of Us deals with . He thus refers to “family dynamics” , the conflict between “the people you love against what you should do” and “obsession”.
Druckmann has loved “revisiting” the story of The Last of Us and “collaborating” with new people to better understand the characters and that world. That is why he is grateful for “the joy” that he has brought to work on the series with Craig Mazin, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. They, and the rest of the team, “rebuilt” the world and “reinterpreted” the characters.
