Writer, narrative designer and animator Josh Sherr announced his departure from Naughty Dog on July 15, 2022. He thanked his colleagues for many years of joint work and said that he was leaving the studio to take up some new project for himself.
During his 21.5 years at Naughty Dog, Scherr contributed to 11 games, including The Last of Us: Part II, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, all of which he wrote. He has also served as cinematic animator for a number of other titles.

Since May 2020, Scherr has been working on an unannounced Naughty Dog project.
In his farewell address, Scherr admitted that he would miss his colleagues, but he also sees positive things in his departure. According to him, after a while, he will finally be able to play the studio’s next game without spoilers. At the same time, he noted that Naughty Dog is currently doing something absolutely incredible.
