Microsoft is systematically adding Sega’s games to the Xbox Game Pass, but this is apparently just the beginning of a great cooperation. Corporations have confirmed that they want to develop next-gen productions together, and developers will use the solutions of the Xbox manufacturer.
A few months ago, there were rumors that Microsoft wants to take over Sega , but as you know, nothing like that happened. Corporations, however, are more and more willing to cooperate with each other and companies want to continue developing joint initiatives.
On Sega’s home page there was a news of a partnership agreement, whereby SEGA and Microsoft forged a “strategic alliance to create next-generation titles” from the Japanese and the development of a “next-generation development environment on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform” .
The document confirms that SEGA is to develop titles using “various Microsoft technologies” related to Microsoft Azure and the Xbox manufacturer will take care of “creating a new generation programming environment for SEGA using Microsoft solutions” .
“In order to develop the SEGA Super Game, we will use Microsoft technologies on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and further develop our technology, especially in terms of the network infrastructure and communication tools that are necessary to deliver global online services. In addition, the two companies have agreed to consider a technical alliance to transform SEGA’s development environment, which is constantly changing due to the diversity of working styles, into a next-generation environment. ”
As you can see, SEGA intends to develop truly next-gen productions and Microsoft will help Japanese developers. We can suspect that at least some of the titles will go to Xboxes.
