Mark Hamill has stated that he will probably stop voicing Joker in Batman-based works following the death of his colleague and friend Kevin Conroy.
Mark Hamill will no longer voice the Joker in Batman -related productions : the actor said it is unlikely he will reprise the role of the famous villain, which he played for decades, after the death of his colleague and friend Kevin Conroy .
Kevin Conroy’s death took the many fans of the Dark Knight off guard, but also the many actors who have worked with him over the years, and Hamill felt he had a special relationship from this point of view.
“They would call and say, ‘They want you to do the Joker,’ and my only question was, ‘Is Kevin Batman?’” Mark Hamill revealed in an interview with Empire Magazine.
“If they said yes, I would say, ‘I’m in.’ We were like partners. We were like Laurel and Hardy. Without Kevin there, there doesn’t seem to be a Batman for me.”
Universally known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film saga , Hamill also had a long career as a voice actor, and just like Kevin Conroy began playing the role of Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, starting in 1992.
His voice has accompanied the villain’s iconic grimaces in video games as well, of course, including the Batman: Arkham franchise and the recent MultiVersus.
