The developer says he’s “very honored” by the comparisons
From the moment the world first saw Lies of P, comparisons to Bloodborne were guaranteed. If there’s one thing that grabs people’s attention, it’s “look at this thing that looks a lot like the one you love” and many people love FromSoftware’s Bloodborne game.
Clearly inspired by Bloodborne, Lies of P quickly became a hit with users after the trailer at this year’s Gamescom, and for good reason. In many preliminary reviews, journalists began to compare the game with Bloodborne. And many users did the same, even though publisher Neowiz told Kotaku back in December that the resemblance was coincidental.
In an interview with Gamereactor, director Choi Ji-won said he was “greatly honored” to have Lies of P next to Bloodborne.
“I am myself a very big fan of Bloodborne”, Ji-Won said. “So I’m feeling so honored that my art is being mentioned together with the name of Bloodborne. So I am very honored.”
As for the Pinocchio aspect, Ji-Won last month cited three very good reasons for making a game about the famous doll: Pinocchio’s name recognition, the dark tone of the original story, and the character’s varied background.
