Rockstar has announced that the version of Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5, Series X and Series S will have a quality mode at 4K, another performance at 60 fps and a third dedicated to ray tracing.
Grand Theft Auto V will have three graphic modes when it launches on March 15 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S , as revealed by Rockstar Games in a statement where they also list the different visual improvements that the game will bring, how they have taken advantage of the PS5 DualSense controller and how the game transfer system of GTA 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online will work , in addition to publishing new images.
The three graphics modes are similar to what we have found in the last two Insomniac Games games ( Marvel’s Spider-Man , Ratchet & Clank: A Separate Dimension ) for PS5, with a fidelity mode, another performance and a third that mixes both. :
- Fidelity mode: Native 4K resolution with ray tracing at 30 FPS (PS5 and Xbox Series X); 4K resolution upscaled to 30 FPS (Xbox Series S).
- Performance mode: 4K resolution upscaled to 60 FPS (PS5 and Xbox Series X); 1080p resolution at 60 FPS (Xbox Series S).
- RT Performance Mode: 4K resolution upscaled to 60 FPS with ray tracing (PS5 and Xbox Series X only).
“These new versions also offer global improvements including faster load times, increased population and variety in traffic, increased vegetation density, and improvements to the quality of lighting in shadows, reflections in water and other elements. “, they say in the statement where they also highlight the use of HDR and improved textures. “In addition, anti-aliasing has been improved , blurring has been improved , there are new detailed explosions and fire, and much more.”
On PS5 Tempest 3D sound is used and on Xbox Series X/S Spatial Sound . Likewise, on the Sony console, the haptic response and the adaptive resistance of the DualSense are used to “add new sensations to the effects of water, the direction of the year, the roughness of the surfaces, the explosions and more”.
Transfer of saved games
GTA 5 and GTA Online players will be able to transfer their game to next-gen consoles regardless of brand . That is, a PS4 user will be able to transfer their game to the Xbox Series X/S version, for example. To do so, you will need to upload your game to Rockstar Social Club from the game pause menu on your current console (in the Game section). The game will be stored for 90 days on the Rockstar service.
The same thing happens with GTA Online , but keep in mind that GTA$ purchased can only be transferred from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series. Everything else will be preserved: characters, GTA$ earned, progression, stats, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing, and player-created jobs.
Grand Theft Auto V will arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 15; it is unknown if these improvements will be implemented in the future to the PC version. The title originally launched in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360 , and a year later it was released for PS4 and Xbox One. The GTA Online servers on the seventh generation consoles closed last year.
