We are slowly approaching the middle of 2022, while Sony has not yet revealed its complete plans for the next months. However, there was hope for Final Fantasy enthusiasts and the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XVI. Square Enix is in the final stages of production.
In September 2020, during the Sony event, we could look at the first shots from the fresh installment of the Final Fantasy series . Square Enix’s cooperation with the PlayStation producer is doing quite well, as evidenced by another proposal aimed exclusively at PS5. Although the title’s debut was not included in the publisher’s official list this year, we can still expect a kind of surprise. We know that developers have experienced some difficulties, but their main goal is primarily to deliver a refined product.
A presentation of the game, which could boldly take place at a major Sony event, seems more and more likely. The studio has entered the next phase of the development of an atmospheric adventure set in the kingdom of Valisthea.
In the latest interview for Uniqlo magazine, Naoki Yoshida talked about the ongoing projects and revealed an extremely important news – work on Final Fantasy XVI is in the final stages:
“Right now the development of FF16 is in its final stage. As a single player game, we are aiming to integrate story and gameplay even further. Different to a game where many people play online at the same time, the extent to which the game has an individual focus changes how immersed you are in the story. “
The story from Final Fantasy XVI gained “a lot of depth”, which should be well received by fans of promising stories – it is worth noting that the work on the main plot was completed in October.
“I think it’s become a story with quite a lot of depth. To people who have grown up, entered working society and think “reality isn’t as easy-going as a video game”, and at some point ended up separating from Final Fantasy, we want to want them to remember their passion from back then. We’re making the game with that intention.”
If nothing disturbing happens along the way, and the tests go according to the authors’ plans, Square Enix should be ready to offer a new installment of the series in a few months. It is difficult to predict how Sony plans to play the title promotion stage, but it remains to be hoped that we will see the game at the next big event.
