Final Fantasy IX turned twenty only a few months ago: after all, we are talking about one of the most loved PSOne era chapters ever (and, most likely, one of the most misunderstood).
Without detracting from more recent Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade games , the ninth final fantasy is one of the few that embraces the classic JRPG vision with random turn-based combat.
Not to mention that an animated series based on the ninth final fantasy is in development by the French of Cyber Group Studios, in collaboration with Square Enix.
After all, Final Fantasy IX is such a popular game that an unofficial fan remake has demonstrated the potential of the thing .
Something new related to Final Fantasy IX may now really be on the way soon, as suggested by a recent comment from the game’s event planner.
Speaking of the development of the original game on the official PlayStation Blog , Kazuhiko Aoki hinted at something unreleased currently in the works.
Here are his words, which leave very little room for the imagination:
If you’re playing Final Fantasy IX for the first time on PlayStation Now, and find it fun, then I’d be delighted if you’d join us and continue to create Final Fantasy IX into the future.
Although the English translation may be incorrect (even partially), the possibility remains that a remake of Final Fantasy IX is indeed in the works .
Indeed, the remake was anticipated in the recent GeForce NOW leak , which suggests that an official remake of the final ninth fantasy could really be in the works.
Final Fantasy IX originally released on the first PlayStation in 2000, before being ported to PC and mobile devices in 2016 and to PlayStation 4 in 2017. The game also appeared on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
