Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s soulslike with the best launch ever.
The first sales numbers published on the occasion of the launch return truly incredible records for FromSoftware.
The latest effort by Hidetaka Miyazaki’s team has in fact already torn up the previous goals, and in a few days Elden Ring has already become the best-selling soulslike ever.
The great results were already evident by looking at the numbers published by Steam : over 700,000 users connected simultaneously for day one of the last magnificent soulslike.
Thanks to the SteamDB platform, it is also possible to learn the great popularity of the game on PC, despite having already been the victim of review bombing : 4 of the 5 best-selling video games of last week on Steam are different editions of Elden Ring.
GamesIndustry.biz today released the results obtained by FromSoftware’s latest masterpiece on the UK market , taking into account only physical copies: at the moment there are no other digital sales figures available other than those published by Steam.
Well, it seems that it has already become the most successful video game of FromSoftware’s soulslike, videogame genre which includes not only the famous Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls , but also Bloodborne and Sekiro .
The best physical launch of the software house was in fact Dark Souls 3 in 2016, but Elden Ring has already managed to exceed it by 26% : to these data we must also add the impressive diffusion of the digital market, which could have further significantly increased the gap.
80% of physical copies were sold on PlayStation consoles , with 63% units on PS5 and 17% on PS4: the remaining 20% is instead divided on Xbox and PC, platforms that focus more on digital sales.
This means that the FromSoftware chapter has already managed to top Horizon Forbidden West , which had become the second best launch ever on PS5 , but that today has to settle for second place in the ranking of the best-selling games of the week.
In third place of the podium there is again space for Pokémon Arceus Legends , which will soon no longer be the last chapter of the legendary Game Freak saga .
The already known difficulty of Elden Ring did not therefore lead to any drop in sales: Miyazaki explained why deaths are so important , saying he is sorry for those who are unable to appreciate the challenges.
