The best-selling game in the first half of 2022 in European countries, according to GSD calculations, was Elden Ring, FIFA 22 ranked second, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus was third.

But in the case of Elden Ring, both digital and retail sales were taken into account, while for Pokémon, only retail sales were taken into account. With this in mind, it is assumed that in reality Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes at least the second place in circulation for half a year. In terms of retail sales, it was Arceus that became the leader in Europe.
In just six months, 76.1 million copies of games were sold in European countries, of which 32 million in retail and 44 million in digital. Germany became the largest market in Europe, where 15.4 million copies of games were sold; second place was taken by the UK (14.3 million), the third – France (10.2 million).
Consoles in European countries (excluding Germany and the UK) sold about 2 million. The leader was the Nintendo Switch, in second place was the PS5 – compared to the first half of 2021, its sales decreased by 44% due to supply issues. In contrast, Xbox Series X|S sales are up 9% from 2021.
GSD took into account sales of games in retail in 15 countries (excluding Russia), and in the “figure” – in 33 countries (including Russia). At the same time, statistics on digital sales were collected mainly in large game publishers, excluding Nintendo, 505 Games and indie studios.
Console sales were analyzed in 10 countries, including Russia.
