NPD’s Mat Piscatella confirmed the new sales of games and hardware from the United States, and the NPD Executive Director confirmed the great success of Elden Ring. The title continues to record great sales and in 2022 the game that will threaten the From Software hit may no longer appear.
Elden Ring made his debut with a bang, scoring a great average rating, which probably had positive consequences in the very high sales of the game. Mat Piscatella has previously reported that the production of From Software not only broke the last Call of Duty, but even the upcoming installment of the series may not achieve such a good result to threaten a demanding adventure.
Now NPD has released the results for the previous month and Elden Ring has dominated the ranking again, while the production hit the top ten best-selling games in the history of the United States.
Elden Ring repeated as the best-selling game of the month, and it remains the best-selling game of 2022 YTD. Elden Ring has placed first in dollar sales in four of its first five months in market.
“Elden Ring is in the top ten best-selling premium games in the US market in history (sales in dollars).”
It is a gigantic success of the studio, which, although it put very strong positions on the market, only Elden Ring found its way to such a wide audience.
Mat Piscatella also confirmed that in June, PlayStation 5 achieved the highest sales in dollars and at the same time took first place in the first half of the year, but it was Nintendo Switch that recorded better copy sales (in June and the last six months). The PS5 earned significantly more (“double-digit percentage growth”) compared to last June.
Interesting facts from NPD data include Overwatch’s return to the TOP 20 best-selling games (from October 2019) and the 9th place in Final Fantasy VII Remake – the Japanese RPG in May was at 159th place in the ranking, but the latest promotions and big announcements at 25 Years of Final Fantasy VII allowed the game to achieve high sales.
