On September 20, Electronic Arts officially announced the development of an Iron Man game , noting that it was being handled by Motive Studio . The project is a third-person story-driven adventure with an unknown release date.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Marvel Games Vice President and Creative Director Bill Rosemann noted that both teams want to release innovative action games and also love to bring iconic worlds to life. In addition, the studio wants every player to feel like a hero and realize their fantasy by fulfilling their desires.
In terms of gameplay, everyone understands that the ability to fly in the form of Iron Man successfully executed will be a decisive factor in the enterprise. However, Motive Studio is also betting on an exciting original story with the right transfer of the essence of the iconic character.
Game director Olivier Proulx , who previously worked on Eidos Montreal ‘s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy , plans to flesh out the character by getting players to understand him better and show what drives the character.
Guardians of the Galaxy it was all about team play, so we built a lot of narrative systems around that. And with Iron Man, having that visceral experience of flying around as Iron Man is going to be supremely important, and of course building a great story around Tony Stark and tapping into his character. He is a creative genius, that is his superpower, so there are great narrative opportunities there. But then it’s about how that translates to the gameplay experience as well.
Proulx noted that as the core concept and idea of the game is worked out, Motive Studio will expand the development team and increase the budget.
Earlier it became known that Iron Man will be the first game developed by Electronic Arts in conjunction with Marvel, and others will follow the project.
