Techland confirmed the very positive news about Dying Light 2. The latest game from the Polish studio turned out to be a huge success and in just a month the costs of developing the game were paid back.
On April 22, Techland presented the first sales results of Dying Light 2 . The game debuted on February 4 and at the end of the month, players bought 5 million copies. This is a very good result, which turns out to be able to generate the right amount for the return of all production costs.
Techland created Dying Light 2 for about $ 100 million and this amount was obtained in the first month after its premiere. This is very good news for the entire studio, because we can be sure that Techland will be eager to develop the game – after all, the first concrete plans for new content have already been revealed .
It is certainly worth mentioning that although the first Dying Light achieved sales of 20 million copies, part of the revenues went to Warner Bros. (publisher), and in the case of the new version, Techland put the game on the market himself, so he does not have to share money.
The Wrocław studio also confirmed that the long-term support plan turned out to be a great success, because in 2021 (before Dying Light 2’s debut), the company had as many as 7.6 million users on Dying Light’s servers. In the year of its premiere, the company had 7.1 million players.
