We have to wait until next year for Dying Light 2, but apparently the developers only needed two months to make sure they would improve the entire game and launch a polished adventure. The studio obviously doesn’t want to make the mistakes of the competition.
In mid-September, Techland announced that Dying Light 2 will not debut in December 2021 and developers need additional months to fine-tune the game. The delay is not large, but it is enough to ensure a polished adventure.
Tymon Smektała, during an interview with the EDGE editorial office, revealed that Techland double-checks each element of the item to make sure that a well-rounded adventure will appear on the market.
“We double-check everything. Dying Light 2 is full of complex, interpenetrating systems made by hundreds of people – at some point in production, all the mechanics really work and start working together, but you also start to discover all sorts of extreme cases where it might not be so and you want to fix it. These are usually simple fixes, but you want to make sure you test and catch as many cases as possible. These additional two months will be devoted to just that. And maybe we’ll throw an Easter Egg or two into the game … “
The lead designer of Dying Light 2 Stay Human has even suggested that in this case, developers need to think not only about the game and the fans, but also about their employees, who will apparently be able to fine-tune the adventure.
The creator also mentioned a significant change in Dying Light 2 – here each hero’s skill will be a “game-changer”, because in the new position of Techland there will be no “fillers” on the list of skills, and each power has a significant impact on the gameplay.
“In the original, some skills were fillers, they just broke attributes. In Dying Light 2, each skill is a game-changer. Almost every one gives you a new skill that you can try on your enemies right away. “
Techland has also refined the hook, which will now provide much more realistic physics compared to the first installment.
