Dragon Age 4 will be the first major BioWare production to debut exclusively on current-gen consoles and PC. Developers have abandoned the development of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, which should significantly affect the quality of the item.
BioWare is officially working on Dragon Age 4 and a new part of Mass Effect. We have already mentioned that the latter title is not coming anytime soon, as a story set in a fantastic reality takes precedence.
Jeff Grubb has already referred to the launch of Dragon Age 4 – according to the information obtained, the title of the Canadian team would be on the market in 2023 . At the indicated time, the previous generation will be very obsolete, so the studio has withdrawn from PS4 and XOne support.
The Venturebeat journalist verified the message, which was initially noticed on the profile of one of the studio’s employees on LinkedIn.
Dragon Age 4 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but it will not get versions for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. This isn’t too shocking, but it does show that developers like BioWare are ready to leave the last-gen consoles behind. But I’ve also separately confirmed that EA is planning the game only for the new-gen systems.
The decision seems to be the most justified and allows us to hope that the setting and the extensive systems in Dragon Age 4 will be of solid quality. Obsolete technology could pose a lot of difficulties during the production process.
The next installment of the Dragon Age series will be one of the first proposals from Electronic Arts, which will hit only n PS5 and XSX | S – Mass Effect: Legendary Edition debuted only on PS4, XOne and PC (without the native version for PS5 and XSX | S), while Battlefield 2042 will hit two generations.
