The Canadian studio is currently developing two large RPGs and although Dragon Age 4 is to debut first, this title is having problems. Matt Goldman left the band before the expected production was released.
Dragon Age 4 is set to debut exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and personal computers , but we don’t officially know when the title is to hit the market. According to leaks – EA intends to offer the adventure only in 2023 .
The studio will be actively developing the project for at least a dozen or so months, but as it turns out – Matt Goldman has left BioWare. He is the series’ senior creative director who served in this role on Dragon Age 4 since 2017, the RPG reboot.
BioWare sent a message to employees confirming that Matt Goldman had left the studio and both sides “mutually agreed to split up,” but it was not disclosed why the developer had left the company.
Matt Goldman first joined BioWare in 1998 and has worked on Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire. He then returned to the studio in 2009 and developed every game in the Dragon Age franchise and was involved in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Gary McKay, head of BioWare, confirmed that Goldman’s departure could have an impact on the development of Dragon Age 4:
“We understand that Matt’s departure has an impact on you, as well as the game’s development. Rest assured our commitment to a high-quality Dragon Age game has not waivered, and we will not ship a game that is not up to BioWare’s standards.“
“We, including EA’s executive team, have absolute confidence in the leadership here at the studio and the people working on this game to carry forward our vision.“
Matt Goldman in a short statement emphasized that the next installment of the Dragon Age series is in excellent hands.
