Resumes of various EA Motive employees give us clues
Dead Space was the first video game that I was truly scared of while holding a controller in my hands. That is why I was so moved by the news that Electronic Arts had finally opened its eyes and was about to take one of its best franchises out of retirement. Dead Space Remake is a reality, and although there is still a long way to go before we can play it, little details about its development are beginning to come out .
The first clue that the game will not arrive for a long time is that when it was officially presented, EA did not give an approximate release date, not even a year . If we look at the Linkedin profiles of several EA Motive employees , it can be seen that, at least, Dead Space Remake has been in development since July 2020 .
Dead Space’s return could be delayed until 2023 or beyond
- Philippe Ducharmer (Senior Producer) started working on the project in August 2020
- Xavier Perreault (Senior Environment Artist) joined the team that same month
- Pierre-Vincent Bélisle (Gameplay Tech Lead) mentions that he started working on Dead Space Remake in October last year.
- Maximillien Faubert (Senior VX Artist) comments that he got involved in the development of the game in July 2020
What does all this mean? Well, it is likely that EA Motive has only been developing the remake of Dead Space for a year and a half (to this we must add the pre-production time), and since it is a AAA production, it will surely take a couple of years more on talking about release dates .
What improvements will Dead Space Remake have?
Well, the most logical thing would be to think that the graphic section will be completely renewed , taking advantage of the cutting-edge technology presented by the Frostbite graphics engine from Electronic Arts. In addition to this, survival horror will offer a fine- tuning of the controls and other aspects of the gameplay, and will present a more careful sound section than ever , as it is one of the keys when creating a great atmosphere of terror.
