Independent Canadian studio Red Hook has announced the release of the first update for its RPG-based strategy game Darkest Dungeon II, which is in Early Access on the Epic Games Store.
According to the developers, the patch contains “a wagon and a small cart of fixes, polishes and other improvements” , many of which were ready in advance of release, but could not be implemented at that stage.
In addition, the team made adjustments to the balance, the shortcomings of which, after the start of Darkest Dungeon II, drew attention to players and streamers. Changes are available in both experimental and release branches.
In particular, the number of caustic comments from mischievous characters and the most illogical antics of heroes (such as complaints about intercepting an enemy’s murder) was reduced, as well as some skills were adjusted.
The developers also warned that the new patch makes Darkest Dungeon II more difficult by eliminating some particularly convenient gameplay loopholes. A complete list of changes is available on the game’s website .
Also in Red Hook Studios have mentioned that the next significant update Darkest Dungeon II will receive in December (date not specified), after which the team will go on New Year’s holidays.
Darkest Dungeon II Early Access launched on October 26th exclusively on the Epic Games Store and has already attracted over 100,000 players . With the release of the final version, the project will appear on other sites.
